10 Fabulous Sharpie Manicure Ideas

10 Sharpie Manicure Ideas

UPDATE: I’ve been asked several times by readers about Sharpie smearing while applying the topcoat.  Check out my easy solution here.

I am having a love affair with this ice cream sandwich Sharpie manicures. I am starting to see them pop up all over pinterest and I can’t get enough. The very best part is that if you mess up you can take it off with rubbing alcohol (before a top coat) so you don’t have to use nail polish remover and completely take off your polish. I have seen a variety of awesome ones using Metallic Sharpies or Assorted Color Sharpies.

Have you tried to put a top coat over your Sharpie? That should keep it all in place! Thanks for reading!

I’ve learned that if you spray hairspray on your nails then use a top coat it keeps it from smearing… if that helps

Well, I am not an expert, but I can’t see what it would be any worse than regular nail polish on your nails or Sharpie fumes when are just writing with one. If you are concerned about nail polish chemicals you might want to try a natural brand like Zoya. Thanks for reading!

Sharpies contain a fast drying agent which is among the most toxic chemicals. You should not be using this on your skin for it is dangerous. I would not put this on my nails!

As long as you use a base coat, you should be fine. ALWAYS use a basecoat!
I tried this & it worked well but my sharpies started drying out after only a few nails (I did a rainbow design so only one stripe of each colour per nail)

Several of these are not done with Sharpie pens. Number 2 is done with nail art pens which is different they are featured on small-good-things.com. Number 3 is done with acrylic polish and is featured on Pshiiit.com. Number 5 is done using all acrylic nail polishes and is featured on seventeen.com. Number 9 is also done with all acrylic nail polishes and can be found on blog.thebeautyplace.com. Number 10 is done with acrylic nail polishes and studs and can be found on 10blankcanvases.com.

Hi! I think the goal of the article is to display designs that COULD be accomplished using a sharpie, rather than displaying designs that WERE accomplished by a sharpie. The article is titled, “Sharpie Manicure IDEAS” after all.

Hence the title that included the word “idea”. Please try to pay attention prior to slamming and climbing up on your high horse. Why should she even give you the satisfaction of a reply to your very rude response. Perhaps your diligence and policing could be put to good use elsewhere. Unbelievable that someone has that much free time.

Hey Natasha, thanks for reading! I have always used the Metallic Sharpies, and I don’t actually know (and can’t find the info online) if they are oil or water based. But I am guessing any Sharpies will work.

I have tried fixing a mistake I made with a black sharpie on my nails with alcohol and does not wipe off unless using polish remover, am I doing something wrong because it worked on my table top, alcohol took it right off.

You really have good ideas of using sharpies on nail art designs. I am really having a hard time making designs on my own, but I would like to try sharpies now since I have a collection of different colors.
