Nivea After Shave Balm as Face Primer

I have been hearing about using Nivea Post Shave Balm as a face primer for quite a while, but I thought, “Nah, I have plenty of nice (and expensive) face primers. I’m good, thanks.” But I kept hearing more and more people talking about it so I decided for about $5, I should just give it a try. Well as it turns out… It’s amazing!

I went for the Nivea Men Sensitive Cooling Post Shave Balm and I love it! It definitely has a (nice) masculine cologne smell, but that fades pretty quickly and you won’t smell it on your face for long. I have very dry skin, so I was really skeptical that it would be a good fit for me because I had heard so many people say it was great for controlling oils. I usually end my day with dry patches around my mouth, nose and brows, no matter what primer I am using. I was quite pleasantly surprised to see that it actually kept my skin smooth and moisturized through a whole day. I can’t say I had NO dry patches, but my makeup was still looking pretty solid with about 8-10 hours of wear.

I am pretty blown away by this product. Because of its high glycerin content it makes your makeup really cling to your face and last! For $5 for a big bottle, it is by far my favorite primer option of the moment. I reach for it above my Marc Jacobs Under(cover) Perfecting Primer or Too Faced Hangover Face Primer every time.

What is your favorite primer? Have you tried using the Nivea Aftershave balm for a face primer? Are you going to?
