At $20 a pop, I am always on the hunt for a more affordable alternative to a Beauty Blender. There are so many options out there both high end and drugstore for beauty sponges and they can be really hit or miss. But when I heard Tati (GlamLifeGuru) talking about how good the EcoTools Perfecting Blender was I immediately snagged one up, because she knows her stuff. This sponge claims to be, “50% Better application than the leading prestige sponge.” So here’s my thoughts after trying it for a couple weeks.
PROS: I like the flat side for buffing out foundation and especially for buffing out concealer, you can get really close to your eyes and in tight areas around your nose. I love using the flat edge for carving out my contour with translucent powder, or cleaning up the edge of (accidentally) sloppy eye shadow. Last, I have washed it several times and it doesn’t seem to be losing too much of it’s color and I like that.
CONS: It’s a pretty firm sponge. It doesn’t seem to soak up too much product, like some firmer
Conclusion: I still haven’t found my perfect Beauty Blender replacement at the drugstore. While I like the EcoTools sponge fine and I will continue to use it, I would still pick up a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge at the drugstore first because it is more comparable to a Beauty Blender.
What is your favorite beauty sponge at the drugstore? What should I try next?
