DIY Whipped Coconut Oil Moisturizer

I had a reader contact me asking about why their coconut oil wasn’t whipping up the way they wanted it to, so I figured I may as well write up a post about it.

What You Need:

1 cup of coconut oil (or more if you want, the amount doesn’t really matter)

Electric mixer with a whisk attachment

Optional: A drop or 2 of essential oil for scent (I prefer just plain old coconut oil)

1. Put your coconut oil in the mixing bowl in it’s solid state. Do not melt it!

2. Whip your coconut oil for 6-8 minutes on a high speed. If you mix too long it may start to melt, but you want to make sure you whip it long enough for it be nice and airy.

3. Poor it into the container you want to store it in and put it in the refrigerator for it to set for about an hour.

If you keep your house cool, you will be fine to keep your whipped coconut oil out on a bathroom counter or night stand. If your house gets hot in the summer, it will become a melty mess and you are better off storing it in the fridge.

That’s it! It’s so simple and it makes a fantastic moisturizer. Enjoy!

I made this and it’s amazing. I used a whisk attachment and it worked wonders on making it fluffy. For added benefit I also added Dmae in powder form as a wrinkle reducer. Perfect

I know this post is old, but I’m about to do this today or tomorrow, and I was wondering if you can use the metal bowl from a kitchen aid? or should I use a glass bowl and electric hand held?
