You know those eyelashes lengthening products that promise to lengthen your lashes but will potentially darken your irises permanently? Yikes. Those scare me. No thanks. However, there are a ton of home remedies out there to try that may naturally lengthen your lashes!
1. Oils
Olive oil and castor oil are both said to lengthen your lashes when applied with a clean mascara wand and left on overnight. Whichever you have on hand should do the trick. After 2-3 months of consistent application you should start to see fuller, longer and healthier lashes. To optimize your results, add lemon peel to your oil. You’ll want to let your lemon and oil infuse for about a week before using.
2. Brush your lashes
Brushing your lashes with a soft bristled lash brush daily may stimulate growth. You’ll never want to brush them harshly or for more than 10 minutes as that could result in your lashes falling out. Keep up this routine until you start to see the growth you are looking for.
3. Petroleum Jelly
Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) applied to lashes with a clean lash comb or mascara wand will help moisturize your lashes and help them to appear thicker and healthier. The increased moisture may help stimulate the follicles and help those lashes grow!
4. Vitamins
The same way vitamins, like biotin or Hair Skin and Nails, can help your hair to grow faster and healthier, they can also help to grow your eyelashes too!
5. Coconut Oil
If you haven’t tried coconut oil on your hair, you’ve got to! It makes it so soft and shiny, and somehow it makes my blond hair brighter! While you are at it, apply it to your lashes. You can melt it (which should only take a few seconds in the microwave) into a liquid and apply it with a clean mascara wand or a cotton ball. Keep it out of your eyes, and don’t apply it while it’s still hot from melting.

Castor oil is indeed wonderful, I apply it 2/3 times a week before going to bed for a month and really see the difference. Sadly after one month without applying it, my eyelashes grow to their normal thickness anew.
I strongly recommend it.
I use coconut on my lashes regularily and notice improvements in the length and thickness.

Biotin works great! I have been taking it for about 6 months now and I have noticed a HUGE difference. I would definitely recommend it.
I am glad to read encouraging results after using castor, olive and coconut oils. There are many naysayers out there, and so many confusing articles. I’m not comfortable with mascara and would love to have naturally longer, thicker and darker-looking lashes! Who wouldn’t, right? 😀
when using coconut oil for your hair, it leaves my hair greasy for about 2 days even after washing is out thoroughly twice. Is this because I use too much or because my hair is just to thin?
I use coconut oil but it leaves my hair greasy even after
I doubt it is because you are using too much. I think any quantity will probably do the same thing. I think some product just tends to weigh hair down more and that may be the case with your hair and coconut oil. I always just make sure to double wash my hair after using coconut oil, but there is a good chance I will need to wash it again sooner than I usually would because it can be very heavy. But the soft hair and shine afterward is worth it, in my opinion.
It’s best to apply the shampoo on dry hair before you wet it to wash out.
Wash with a bit of vinger and water after you finish shampooing your hair, plus vinger is veryyyy healthy for the hair.

I really want to try caster oil! I already use coconut oil to shave my legs, remove eye makeup and moisturize my face and body but I want to try and thicken/darken my hair which I’ve heard you can do with caster oil!
I wouldn’t recommend using petroleum jelly, it’s not natural and therefore not good for you.
Coconut oil si amazing for this

If I use coconut oil or olive oil, do my eyelashes stay permanently as long as I want them to? Or do they shrink back to their original size?
The results will only last as long as you are actually treating them 🙂

Would ors coconut oil work for my eyelash and eyebrows ?
very good
Very nice article …
Would canola oil work as well as olive oil?
Where can you get castor oil? I’ve looked all over the place and still can’t find anything? Is there a specific isle or section in a store you need to go to ?
I buy it from CVS. Last month I thought I should moisturize my brows and lashes so I used unpetroleum jelly on one side and one day I noticed brow and lash on treated side were different as in bald (just kidding) Lashes were longer and fuller and brow was thicker by a long shot. I use a cotton swab and applied at base at night before going to bed only. Use very very light coat soas not to allow it to drip into eyes. First time used to much and it took awhile to get it off my eyeball.
Just to add to application method I use. Apply it to topside base not underside closest to eyeball this method allows it to use skin as a buffer so to speak. tks
Castor oil is amazing for growth of eyelashes….
today i will start my journey to try these methods, i will update every 10 days to let u know of any progress.
I have many friends raw-eaters or simply healthy-diet followers, they always know where to get virgin coconut oil and unrefined castor oil… So no wonder I tried them both on my stomach and my eyelashes and hair :)) The result is equally good everywhere. However I am devoting a lot of time to my business and want things quick sometimes. So lately I am a fan of Cherish Lash serum – really amazing for one’s eyelashes and eyebrows. Quick and impressive. Don’t take me wrong I still find this article very useful, and I am about to share it with my folks. 🙂
I’ve tried coconut oil, very conditioning & softening but my best results come from “cold pressed 100% virgin castor oil”, instead of buying that itself, I found it was cheaper to use a “100% cold pressed castor oil serum” from Amazon! It’s castor oil 100% cold pressed & I’ve noticed a difference in both my lashes & brows & my lashes are super long, thick & soft & I find that I hardly ever lose any eyelashes now!!!
