I love finding new uses for things that are already sitting around my house, especially if those new uses are BEAUTY uses! Baking soda is one of those things that is not just for baking, there are a million beauty uses for it that are definitely worth a try.
1. Facial Scrub
Mix water and baking soda to make a paste (about 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water), use it as a scrub to exfoliate your face.
2. Remove Buildup in Hair
I use a clarifying shampoo about once a week to remove excess buildup from my hair. If you don’t have clarifying shampoo, mix baking soda in with your shampoo (about 50/50) and use it as you would normally wash your hair.
3. Clean Combs and Brushes
After a while brushes and combs can get greasy. and washing them isn’t a bad idea. Mix hot water and a baking soda to get them clean.
4. Brush and Whiten Teeth
Brushing your teeth with baking soda is cheap, easy, and effective! Dip your damp toothbrush in baking soda and brush as usual.
5. Soften Cuticles
If you don’t have cuticle oil handy, try using baking soda and a nail brush or old tooth brush and scrub your cuticles to exfoliate and soften them.
6. Blackhead Scrub
Mix 1 Tbsp baking soda with 1/4 cup milk and rub into those blackhead prone areas. Repeat as necessary.
7. Dry Shampoo
Although a real dry shampoo would be ideal, in a pinch using a small amount of baking soda at the roots of your hair can act as a dry shampoo and give you a fresher look.
8. Fix a Splotchy Sunless Tan
Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on damp skin and scrub it around to rub away a streaky sunless tan.
9. Foot Soak
Add about 3 Tbsp of baking soda to a tub to soak and soften your feet before an at-home pedicure.
10. Zit- Zapper
Mix a few drops of fresh lemon juice with baking soda to make a paste and apply it to the blemish to help it go away quicker.

I agree with 4. Just don’t do it too often, it can be harsh on enamel after a long-term usage, but it definitely brings whitening results. After all, there are numerous products for home treatment with sodium bicarbonate as main ingredient.
Perhaps I’m one of the lucky ones, but I’ve been using baking soda for years and never had a problem with my enamel. Just putting that out there for someone who’s nervous about trying it. It might not have any negative effects for you.
Great points! Baking soda is indeed one of the most useful products for house cleaning to beautifying everyone. This was proven advantageous when it comes to teeth whitening, it cleans your mouth and remove the filthy stain in your teeth. But overusing baking soda in your teeth could weaken your enamel, so be careful.

Did the hair one tonight. NEVER AGAIN . I have long healthy hair . But now it feels like straw
Agree with using it for cleaning and whitening the teeth. however, it always made my tongue lose the sense of taste for couple of days so not a great fan of it.
Baking sod is one of the most useful element for cleaning and whitening teeth. But now this becoming old fashioned. In the decade electric toothbrushes are becoming more and more popular. Not only they looks cool but also they are effective. Electric toothbrushes got variety of modes which will clean your teeth, polish you teeth and also got gum care facility.
I agree with Andrew. My dentist is advised to use an electric toothbrush and I can already see the effect now as a whiter teeth.
That’s an inugnioes way of thinking about it.
Baking soda is all in all. In fact I regularly use it as dry shampoo and foot soak. Works pretty good on me!
A protocavive insight! Just what we need!

Do people still use baking powder to brush their teeth? With the arrival of electric toothbrushes I would think that idea would be obsolete by now.
